Deal: $22 Ticket to Glenn Gary’s Parlor Magic Show ($45 value)
Grade: D

I mentioned that the Belly Bash was the most awkward experience I’ve had, but I spoke too soon…Glenn Gary’s Magic Show was even more awkward and uncomfortable. There were only 8 people there (I think all of them must have had a Groupon … or at least I hope they didn’t pay full price) and all of his tricks were obviously tricks you can just buy off the internet. I can’t believe he regularly charges $45 a show…or that I paid $22. You can see better magic tricks from the magicians at the Old Town Pier … and all you have to do is put some money in their hat. His talk was bad, his tricks were bad and he even messed up a few tricks and had to start over. P-A-I-N-F-U-L.

The last trick Glenn did was make a card box float in mid air. Yes, it sounds cool and unbelievable….and it would have been if it weren’t for the magnets you could see on the back edge of the table.
Overall, the show wasn’t worth $22. You can see comparable magic at little to no cost.

Lindsey! I had no idea you were doing a blog too! How did you get started on this? I am intrigued!

Lindsey,
I am sorry, I had no idea that you felt that way about the show. You certainly didn’t seem that displeased the night you attended the show. You are correct that there were only 8 people there on Nov 11 but if you would have come to the show on Nov 13 you would have been in an audinece of 35 people. Some nights are few people and other nights are full houses. Most people say they like the intimacy of the smaller audiences.
I will assure you that no magnets were present anywhere in the room, or used to perform any effect in the show especially the floating card box. You did see some plastic clips on the back edge of the table that was suppose to hold the table cloth in place and keep it from slidding off the table.
By the way, I am highly respected for skill, presentation and showmanship and have many awards from my peers to prove it. But I know you wrote a bad review and say you didn’t like the show and I respect that. Most everyone loves the show and gives it great reviews so I am a little taken back as to why you didn’t like the show or me. But because you feel that you did not get your money’s worth I will refund you the amount received from your purchase. I am just thankful that most of my audience don’t share your feelings and that is why they are willing to pay the $45 to see the show. Call me for your refund.
Take care and God Bless.
Glenn Gary
